DRAGON QUEST BUILDERS
Summary
If you have a green thumb for digital worlds and find yourself photographing sunrises in Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition, Dragon Quest Builders might just be your next relaxing RPG adventure on Windows or PlayStation 5. Developed by Square Enix and Armor Project, this 2016 release invites you to restore Alefgard by gathering, crafting, and designing your own settlements—no environmental consultant required, but it helps. The action RPG mechanics blend with a sandbox approach, letting you shape the ecosystem and uncover the story's charming fantasy lore at your own pace. With plenty of side quests and opportunities for in-game photography, it is as much about thoughtful exploration as it is about completionist satisfaction. Ever wondered about the best open world RPGs for completionists? Dragon Quest Builders plants the seed for immersive, creative freedom—minus the post-apocalyptic stress, plus a healthy dose of dry humor. Time to cultivate a world worth exploring.

Minecraft if its target audience was Mexico. You basically follow quests, building blueprints, until you fight the big bad of the chapters in which there are 4. Then you can complete a few optional building/quest challenges after completing each chapter. And then finally there's a creative island that you unlock building parts for as you complete all the challenges in the game's chapters, so your mileage may vary depending on how much screwing around you do. No missables unless you go out of your way to discard important items. Just keep everything in your colossal coffer.
